TAVISTOCK Ladies 2nd hockey team achieved a magnificent victory on Sunday with the season?s opening game against Okehampton.

With an influx of new players the team was refreshed and ready for action.

With excellent teamwork and skill from the forwards the first goal was scored in minutes by Honey.

Okehampton took the push-back and drove forward only to be marked out by the mid-fielders; Chloe Bassett, Francesca Murphy and Jenny Pollock. Posession was regained by the mid-fielders and accurate passing and spacing enabled the forwards to score again.

Okehampton tried to level the score with a run down the wing only to meet the heavy defence of Sarah Guy, Amy Petts and Nell Trotter who cleared the threat and drove up the wing.

By the end of the first half the score was 10-0 to Tavistock with 9 goals from Honey and 1 from Barratt.

The second half saw Okehampton come out stronger but could not level the score.

Constant pressure and skill kept the goals going in and at the final whistle the score was an unbelieviable 17-0 to Tavistock, with Honey scoring a total of 10 goals, Barratt scored 3 goals, Kate Eadie scoring 2 and Bassett scoring 2.

Player of the match: Francesca Murphy.
