THE County Scratch Team from Okehampton Golf Club's ladies' section won division 2 of the County match-play competition.

The finals took place at Dainton Park Golf Club on September 15. Okehampton won their semi-final, beating Woodbury Ladies in the morning, and went on to play East Devon in the afternoon, who had beaten Ilfracombe in the morning .

It was a tightly fought series of matches — one went to the 19th hole and was eventually won by Penny Deakin.

By early evening Okehampton Ladies came out winners over East Devon. It has been a wonderful team effort by all the ladies who have played through the summer.

The DCLGA Western Morning News foursomes took place at Libbaton last Friday. Okehampton Ladies were runners-up to the Manor. Maureen Willcocks and Chris Turner were second in the individual pairs prizes with a score of 35 points and Lyn Atkinson and Jenni Hutchinson received several boxes of balls for scoring a two, as only two Twos were recorded in the whole competition.

The September medal and LGU pin was won by Cherry James with a wonderful score of 65 and Mary Keir was runner-up with 69.

l At Okehampton Golf Club on Saturday George James held his president's day competition.

There was a full entry with men, ladies and juniors competing in individual stablefords.

Division 3: 1, S Hern 46 points h/cap 23; 2, T Coombes 43 points h/cap 25; 3, S Molloy 40 points winning on last 6 h/cap 21.

Results: 1 and winner of president's salver, Pat Kirby with 36 points winning on last 9; 2, L Hazelton 36 points winning on last 9; 3, M Keir 36 points.
