MEMBERS of Yelverton Ladies' Open Group enjoyed trying their hand at a number of 'decopatch' creations at their recent meeting.

They did so under the expert guidance of Alison Bickell, of Treasured Forever, in Tavistock, who also donated five items for the raffle at the end of the evening.

Using a special glue varnish and a selection of patchwork papers, objects of all descriptions and sizes can be covered in a short time to give them a new look — chairs, lamp-stands or shades, skirting boards or tables. Members were told that even a car could be redecorated in decopatch and, provided it was given a coating of yacht varnish on the outside, the covering would withstand even the wildest weather.

The next meeting, the popular annual quiz and fish and chip supper, takes place in Yelverton War Memorial Hall today (Thursday) at 7.45 pm.

This is an open meeting and all are welcome.  For further details ring 01822 852 636 or visit http://www.yelvertonvillagehall.co.uk/clubs">www.yelvertonvillagehall.co.uk/clubs
