LADIES are being encouraged to lace up their football boots and sign up for the Tavistock Ladies’ ability counts football team.

The five-a-side team, for ladies with a disability, is looking for more members to join and enjoy playing ‘no pressure’ football.

Allen Lewis, organiser, said: ‘We’re trying to get more members to join. It’s five-a-side football but the more members we can get the more we can play. We’ve got four members at the moment so they just get a player from another team to join in. The FA is trying to really get women’s disability football to take off nationally and particularly in Devon. This year they are going to have an Ability Counts county cup match for ladies with a proper final for the first time ever.

‘We just want people to come along and enjoy themselves. If you like football and you are shy or have any complexes and just want to play for fun with no pressure, just come along.’

The team has a new lilac kit sponsored by Graham and Valerie Goldring in memory of their daughter Caroline who died in 2014.

Interested people can turn up to the first training session tomorrow (Friday) at Tavistock College from 6pm to 7pm to register or for more information visit www.tavispecials.co.uk
