Devon Intermediate Cup 2nd round Lamerton 1 Plymouth Uni 2nds 4 LAST season?s semi-finalists Lamerton were knocked out of the elite cup by a very well organised and skilful Uni team. Playing 4-5-1, their system was tactically superior and with impeccable finishing, they proved too good on the day. Uni took the lead with a wonder goal on 20 minutes folowing a foot curler from 20 yards looping perfectly into the corner. Lamerton battled back and should have drawn level. They had their chances, but the game swung when Steve Wickett was clearly upended in the box by keeper and defender. The referee said he made too much of it and shortly after it was 2-0 to Uni, with a gift of a goal. An unnecessary back pass in very wet conditions saw keeper Pete Daniel slice his clearance to the Uni forward and he scored with ease. The second half was closely contested, but Uni?s finishing was superb and they scored two more. Lamerton, who were disappointing on the day only managed a consolation goal in the last minute via Dan Healy.
