AN unused BT kiosk in Inwardleigh now belongs to the village after the parish council agreed to ‘adopt’ it.
Contracts have been signed to say that Inwardleigh Parish Council has now adopted the kiosk from BT, following the company offering a number of redundant kiosks in towns and villages across the UK to be taken over by their communities.
The council is now looking for suggestions as to how to use the phone box. So far there has only been one suggestion, from the Inwardleigh Fundraising Committee, of using it to house a defibrillator which the council is considering, but no plans have yet been agreed.
Although the council doesn’t have any plans for the kiosk as yet, it was conscious that it wanted the kiosk to be kept in the village even if it wasn’t used, as was part of the village history. The kiosk will be getting a clean up and a lick of paint in the near future.
