AT the Devon County reverse 800m and 1500m championships at Kingsbridge on Sunday it was a great success for the 32 Kelly swimmers who took part.

The format of racing provides a great opportunity for boys to race the 800m freestyle and the girls to race the 1500m freestyle events. These relatively new events for boys and girls are starting to appear on regional and national championship programmes.

Among the successes were first places for Cameron Brodie, age 16 with a new county championship record and Lauren Steadman with a new British Disability record by over a minute. Other first places went to Rachel Bennett and Emma Bysouth.
