KELLY prep school pupils recently completed in the Devon Megafinal round of the Delancey UK Chess Challenge at Brixham.
Of the six children who took part in a long day of non-stop chess, three came away as winners of their age group, two missed out on qualifying for the next round by half a point.
Lois Thornton won the Suprema cup as top scoring girl in her age group. James Lloyd's last match was a stalemate which resulted in him receiving a Supremo cup as joint highest scoring boy in his age group. Christopher Wrey was the top scoring Under 7 boy, winning a Supremo cup.
Lois, James and Christopher have all qualified to go through to the regional Gigafinals in the summer.
