TAVISTOCK'S Olympic star Kate Allenby did the honours at Whitchurch Cricket Club on Monday when she officially opened the new pavilion.
The new facility was built and paid for from within the club itself following the rejection of a Lottery bid.
A team led by former club chairman Rob Rawlings and long-serving member John Sellis carried out most of the project.
Kate, winner of the bronze medal in the women's modern pentathlon at the Sydney 2000 Olympics, also presented the club's under 15s A team with the County Cup and their medals.
The day included the two under 15s teams playing each other and a game between a Club XI and club captain Dean Elliott's Select XI.
