A WEST Devon girl will be running a gruelling five miles uphill in memory of her uncle who died earlier this year.
Jordan Higgins-Tillyer will start from Tavistock town centre and run mostly uphill for five miles to Brentor Church on Sunday morning (October 27).
Her uncle, Si Higgins, was involved in an accident while driving a tractor at a Motocross track in April, and died while being transferred to Exeter Hospital by air ambulance. Jordan will be raising money for Devon Air Ambulance from her run.
She said: 'Si was a fun uncle and I spent a lot of time with him. He loved motorbikes and had a mad passion for them, whether racing them himself or organising an event for others to enjoy — he ran events all over the country.
'This is a really great charity, close to all our hearts, and I want to make Uncle Si proud of me.'
On Sunday evening, Jordan is asking everyone to join her at the Halfway House Inn, Grenofen, for the regular charity quiz night.
'Clive of the Halfway House Inn has said he will make Devon Air Ambulance the nominated charity and he, himself, will double the amount raised in that evening.
'So I'd like to say a massive thank you to Clive and ask you all to join me, my family and friends for the quiz, a meal or just a drink as it will be a great evening.'
The quiz starts at 8pm on Sunday, October 27. It will cost £1 per person to enter with a maximum of six people on a team.
Anyone who would like to sponsor Jordan in her run can do so by filling out a sponsorship form, available from Tyre Marks in Pixon Lane, Tavistock, or online at http://www.justgiving.com/Jordan-Higgins-Tillyer">www.justgiving.com/Jordan-Higgins-Tillyer
