ANYONE who is interested in supporting farming and the protection of the countryside is being invited to join the Okehampton branch of National Farmers Union Ladies' Club.
The club, which currently has 25 members, arranges a number of social activities including meals out, skittles evenings and walks.
Meetings are held on the third Monday of each month at the Plume of Feathers in Okehampton at 7.30pm.
The committee is keen to point out that the club is not just for people involved directly in farming but anyone who lives in the country and wants to keep the way of life as it is.
The next meeting is on February 21 and Mr D Arney will be talking about his walk from Land's End to John O' Groats.
At the recent AGM the outgoing chairman Dawn Wale and secretary Elizabeth Reddaway were thanked for their hard work and loyal service to the club and presented with Marks and Spencers vouchers as a token of appreciation.
The newly appointed officers are chairman Elizabeth Heard, vice chairman Judy Dowell, treasurer B Caudwell, social secretary M Rundle and secretary P Sworn.
