AN exciting event will be taking place in West Devon next month, to help support an animal rescue centre.
The three part challenge, named 'Tri 4 Rescue' will take place on Sunday, September 1 and starts with a 4.5-mile walk from the Margaret Green Rescue and Re-homing Centre at Wingletang, near Tavistock, followed by a 6-mile horse ride and a 13.5-mile cycle ride.
Challengers are invited to sign up for just one leg, two, or all three.
Niki Ging, who manages the centre with her husband, Alan, said: 'We have seen an increasing number of animals coming to us in recent months.
'There are also some that have been with us for some time, like Leo.
'He is a very loving little terrier who came to us as a result of a marriage break-up.
'He is really good fun and would need to be the only pet in the household where he will make a lovely companion.
'Obviously the welfare of our animals is paramount and it costs us a great deal of money to care for the number we have as well as carry out any specialist veterinary treatment they may need.
'We hope to raise as much money as possible from this event to help animals like Leo.
'Every penny will go towards animal welfare.'
