THE weather was perfect for the annual inter-set (house) athletics day at Mount House School, and in the junior section, Joe Beck took advantage of the conditions to take almost two seconds off a 200 metres record that had stood since 1991.

Joe, who also won the junior 100m, was the outstanding performer in a day of exceptional athletics. He also won him the junior victor ludorum trophy. The intermediate trophy went to Ralph Lopes and the senior to Ben Clarke. The Victrix Ludorum bowl was won by Lizzie Fearnley.

The Set Cup for Athletics went this year to Owls, and the prizes were presented by Ally Spiers, mother of this year's head boy Zach Spiers.
