Tavistock U12s 28 Liskeard U12s 7 LISKEARD opened the scoring with a long run in following a turned over ruck in centre field. That was the wake-up call for Tavistock so with a quickly taken penalty by Jack Morgan and a perfectly timed pass Barnaby Frost pulled the scores level. The home side forwards worked hard to win scrums and line outs against the play and it was pack leader Joe Hair who bulldozed over from a four metre penalty to put his side ahead. The very quick fly half Jack Morgan charged down a clearance attempted for Tavistock?s third before the change round. Liskeard?s continued pressure resulted in some interesting defence by Tavistock, none more so than Morgan?s cross field kick into the hands of Josh Lesson to make good ground. Mark Friend fought his way over the line from a pick-and-go some 7 metres out. Jack Morgan converted all four tries. This week: home to Plymstock for the last fixture. TAVISTOCK U10s took part in the Devon Festival at Exeter Saracens on Sunday and were very unlucky to be knocked out in the group stage. Tavistock?s first game was against hosts Exeter Saracens. Aiden Mason, Henry Salmon and Connor Williams all had a great game, but Tavistock failed to break the Exeter lines and the final result was 0-0. Tavistock went straight into the second match against Brixham and were unstoppable once they gained possession. They ended up 30-0 winners with tries from Will Colton, Henry Kisby, Rhys Davis, Jonty Newton, Frasier Bayliss and Sam Northmore. In the final group game Tavistock played Torquay, who they knocked out in last year?s semi final. Tavistock conceded an unfortunate try with 30 seconds to go. They did not have time to equalise and lost 5-0, to go out. This week 10.15am a home game against Plymstock. TAVISTOCK took a strong squad of 10 to the 2005 Under 9s rugby festival. Tavistock played throughout with passion and commitment, competing well in every area of play. In their first match they lost by a single try to Brixham, scored in the dying seconds after a thrilling encounter. In their second match against Exeter, a 10-10 draw did not reflect Tavistock?s domination. In their final match against a very strong Plymstock team, Tavistock never gave up and lost 20-5 in a hard fought contest. Tavistock finished third in their group. The final match is on Sunday. Tavistock U8s........................55 Liskeard U8s..........................45 TAVISTOCK?S return fixture against Liskeard featured some excellent play from both sides with Marcus Hoddinott picking up two tries and Imogen Muir and Ben Steel looking threatening. Tavistock?s early lead was increased with tries from George Carter, the first of Tom Jackman?s brace and Nick Jory following some good support work. As Liskeard got into their stride committed defensive work from Matthew Dobie and Barney Megicks forced a turnover after seven tackles and Zak Brinkhurst worked hard around the ball to touch down twice. As the scores became closer Tavistock dug deep and were rewarded with further tries from Tom Jackman and Daniel Dobie. Laurence Harrison scored his first of the season, earning him the player of the match award. Dominic Hosking scorched to the line to score the final try.
