FIDDLE music filled St James’ Church in Jacobstowe at a very special summer concert earlier this month.
The summer concert featuring Wren Music’s Fiddle Orchestra of Devon was organised by the Jacobstowe Community Group.
The evening on Saturday, July 13 raised money for three local charities — the Devon Freewheelers, North Dartmoor Search and Rescue Team and Wren Music.
The Fiddle Orchestra of Devon is Wren Music’s ensemble for fiddles and other bowed instruments directed by expert fiddle player Becki Driscoll.
The group performs a range of folk music arranged especially for the ensemble, partnering simple folk tunes with more complex orchestrations.
The evening was a great success, boasting a full house and with a very special solo appearance from the talented Rev Leigh Winsbury.
‘The Jacobstowe Community Group would like to thank everyone who came along to listen and the Fiddle Orchestra of Devon for a lovely evening of live music,’ said group secretary Sarah Woodvine. ‘A very big thank you for the generous donations towards the nominated charities.’
