PERFORMING on a stage where your heroes once played is something all musicians aspire to, but for two brothers from Clearbrook, the dream will become a reality this Saturday (July 28). Ed and Dave Cooper, former Kelly College students, are part of a sleaze rock band, Jack Viper, which has been compared to early Guns?n?Roses. And this Saturday the band will be performing at a legendary Los Angeles venue ? The Whiskey a GoGo on Sunset Strip in Hollywood. Jack Viper consists of Dave who plays bass, guitarist Ed, drummer Dan Telander and singer Jay R. Sleaze rock is a sub genre of rock which is between heavy metal and rock. Dave, 26, said: ?We can?t wait for the festival. ?The Whiskey a GoGo is a venue where all our favourite bands have played, so this is something we can?t wait to do.? But not only have the band members made it in Hollywood, they also have their first debut single ?Devil May Care? making its way into stores on September 10. The band has toured with numerous rock bands, travelling throughout Europe and America ? picking up a dedicated fan base along the way. Jack Viper was successful in several award categories during the 2006 to 2007 session, as voted for by rock fans across the country. There have been best single and best frontman accolades ? plus a more dubious ?stunt of the year? title, collected after being ejected from Preston Travelodge by riot police for ?partying too hard? while on tour with US rockers, Slunt. The band currently has a packed schedule and is finding it hard to get a gig in West Devon. Dave said: ?I would like to come back to the Wharf to perform as I played there when I was at school.? Jack Viper will be playing a further two shows in Philadelphia and New York on November 10 and 11.
