AN optical team in Tavistock is swapping its opthalmoscopes for teacups to support Dementia UK.
Today (Thursday, March 6), staff at Specsavers will be selling cakes and hot beverages for Dementia UK's 'Time for a Cuppa' week.
The store is hoping to raise £42, which will pay for an Admiral Nurse to visit the home of a dementia sufferer.
Sarah Routley, store director of Specsavers, said: 'We all love a cup of tea here at Specsavers in Tavistock, so I can't think of a better way to fundraise than to relax and have a cuppa. We're really looking forward to raising as much money as possible for such a great cause.'
Amy Cudmore, community fundraiser at Dementia UK, said: 'In the UK, there is a one in 7,000 chance of families affected by dementia having access to an Admiral Nurse Service.
'Money raised from the Time for a Cuppa parties, such as the one at Specsavers Tavistock, will help Dementia UK to expand and develop our Admiral Nurse services to reach more families affected by dementia across the country.'
Dementia UK is a national charity committed to improving the quality of life for all people affected by dementia.
Time for a Cuppa week aims to provide vital funds for Admiral Nurses, specialist dementia nurses and the Admiral Nursing DIRECT helpline.
