WHEN chairman of Tavistock Football Club Robin Fenner stood up and said, ?It?s good to be alive?, he was greeted by rapturous applause by more than 130 guests at the club?s annual dinner and dance at the Moorland Links Hotel, Yelverton.

Charismatic Robin Fenner took the stage on a night to remember, having battled against the odds and undergone life-saving surgery to beat a rare type of cancer.

He was delighted to have recovered sufficiently to be able to attend the social highlight in the football club?s calendar.

Joining guests was David Baldwin the surgeon at Southmead Hospital, Bristol, who carried out the 15-hour operation to save Robin.

The trophies were presented by West Devon and Torridge MP John Burnett.

Seen enjoying the special evening are (left to right) the Rev Greg Stanton, Vicar of Lamerton, Milton Abbot, Dunterton, Maristow and Coryton, Michael Bridger, Robin and Sheila Fenner and surgeon David Baldwin.
