HAIRY chops will fill a Tavistock butchers next month — but don't worry, they're not for sale — they will appear on the faces of the staff.
Come and take a butchers at the male employees of Palmers Butchers in Duke Street who will be ditching the razors for the month to grow moustaches for Movember.
The six members of staff, most of whom are usually clean shaven, will grow their facial hair in a bid to raise money for the Tavistock chemotherapy outreach and Triangle drop in centre, which offers a friendly space for people with cancer or carers to ask questions, discuss how cancer affects them and share their concerns and allows cancer suffers to receive chemotherapy treatment closer to home.
Owner of Palmers Duncan Bird said: 'It was one of the staff's idea to grow moustaches for the Triangle centre. Most of them are clean shaven and I have a beard but I will be growing a moustache as well.
'We will have a pot in the shop for the whole month so people can come in and donate when they want to rather than sponsoring us.'
Debbie Clift from the Triangle centre said she was delighted that the butchers team were raising money for the centre.
She said: 'We think it is amazing that their doing this for the centre. They are raising money to provide local services to help the local community.'
The Triangle drop in centre and chemotherapy outreach runs from Tavistock Clinic in Plymouth Road every Friday. For more information about the service, contact 01822 615935.
