Pelynt 1

Gunnislake 1

PLAYING their third fixture in a few days Gunnislake went into this match with four players unavailable and two of the available 13 carrying injuries.

Despite this they gave a good first half performance with more than enough scoring opportunities to have won by the interval.

But the turnaround was reached with just a solitary chance having been taken, James Ord heading home a Paul Tomkies centre to give the visitors the lead.

Pelynt, needing points in their battle to avoid relegation, came out in determined mood in the second half and levelled matters on 65 minutes.

As each side pressed in search of a winner the game became stretched and chances were rare although Gunnislake did find the woodwork through Andy Southcott and had a Neil Kinger penalty well saved after Andy Wakem was fouled.

Southgate 3

Gunnislake 2

WITH this victory in their final game of the season Southgate leapfrogged Gunnislake to go to the top of the table on 55 points while the visitors remained on 53 with two games to play.

Southgate took a two-goal lead within 15 minutes which they maintained until the turnaround.

Gunnislake began the second half well and soon reduced the arrears. Neil Kinger challenged strongly in the goalmouth for a Dave Tout free kick, and when the ball fell to Paul Tomkies the young striker made no mistake.

Play became scrappy as each side looked to press forward. Southgate scored with 10 minutes remaining.

On 86 minutes Andy Southcott's centre was headed onto the crossbar by Mark Warwick.

Tomkies converted the rebound to set up a tense final few minutes but the hosts held on to take all the points.

Gunnislake 4

St Ann's Chapel 0

FOUR days after falling from the top spot, Gunnislake regained it with this emphatic victory. With St Mawes only managing a draw in their match at Lostwithiel on the same evening this win was enough for Gunnislake to clinch the divisional title.

The opening goal came in the 15th minute. A Joe Pulley corner was flicked on by Neil Kinger for Lee Underwood to convert. The second was all about Andy Wakem. The young striker robbed an opposing defender of the ball before firing home from 25 yards to give his side a two-goal half-time lead.

On 60 minutes Chris Adams headed home another Pulley corner before Wakem scored his second when he again gained possession before clipping an effort over the keeper.

Gunnislake complete their season this Sunday when St Mawes visit them.
