PIANIST William Fong is at the Wharf on Saturday, with a programme featuring Beethoven, Chopin and Liszt.
He first came to international attention when he won the first prize, gold medal and the Rosa Sabater prize at the Concurso Internacional de Piano in Jaén, Spain, in 1984.
William made his London South Bank début at the Purcell Room in 1986, under the auspices of the Kirckman Concert Society, and in 1989 made his London concerto début with the Philharmonia Orchestra at St John's Smith Square.
Since then UK recitals include regular performances at the major London venues, as well as for festivals countrywide.
As a chamber musician, William has performed with groups such as the Brodsky quartet, members of the Guildhall Strings, and has collaborated with the singers Steve Davislim and James Rutherford.
As well as recording for BBC Radio 3, William's performances have been broadcast on Classic FM, regional and national BBC Television and on European and US radio and television. CD recordings are available on Olympia and Guild Records.
In addition to performing, William is also much in demand as a teacher and gives frequent masterclasses in conjunction with recitals.
He is currently head of keyboard at the Purcell School.
