OKEHAMPTON Community Recreation Association (OCRA) is appealing to people who have been inspired by the Olympics to try a new sport or return to an old one.

With the London 2012 motto 'Inspire a Generation' manager of OCRA is encouraging local residents to get involved in the wide variety of sports on offer in the area.

'OCRA has contacts for over 70 clubs and different activities and runs a diverse range of its own activities,' said manager Stuart Lord.

These range from sailing and windsurfing at Roadford and gymnastics and trampoling for adults or children to back to hockey sessions, running, basketball and judo.'

'We are very fortunate to live in an area which has such a good club infrastructure, great instructors, superb built sporting facilities and a beautiful natural environment,' added Mr Lord.

'There might also be things people would like to try that are not in the area and we would be keen to hear from anyone to look at setting up taster sessions.

'The Olympics has been truly inspiring, if individuals or groups want to try a whole range of sports locally get in touch with OCRA.'
