Plym Valley ladies third 1

Okehampton ladies seconds 0

OKEHAMPTON started slowly but soon got into their stride away in Plymouth against the young Plym Valley side on a bumpy pitch. Within ten minutes, Okehampton were applying the pressure. Katy Graves and Rachel Hammett held strong in defence for Oke as Plym Valley produced waves of counter attacks. Okehampton were quick to regain control to provide Grace Thorp with an excellent chance to score which unfortunately slid left of the goal.

During the second half, Okehampton were more determined to fight for the ball. This was evident when defender Jo Drake and Kim Bland tackled relentlessly to win the ball in the Oke circle. Midfielders, Holly Yelland, Sophie Tripp, Nicola Stoneman and Rochelle Hillier were strong and demonstrated excellent fitness to provide the forwards Annette Goswell and Denise Horner excellent opportunities on goal.

Plym Valley eluded the defence with simple tactics in front of the goal. Visiting goalie Shannon Osman injured herself lunging for the ball, leaving the goal open for Plym Valley to score. Shannon left the pitch leaving Katy Graves to defend the goal singlehandedly.

Okehampton, who played well, remained in control for the rest of the game but unable to break through to equalise.
