Headteacher Linda Mitchell explained that the idea of the project was to introduce a healthier environment into the school, from safe play at break times to energy-saving intiatives.
'I am delighted that the youngsters' efforts have been recognised.
'It was a huge effort by all involved, including mum Claire Gladstone and former staff member David Jones,' she said.
Eco-Schools is a European environmental award programme which operates in 23 European countries.
It guides schools towards involving pupils in decisions regarding their environmental management by way of committees.
The award consists of a Green Flag and a framed certificate, and pupils are now aiming to achieve a silver award.
