Okehampton U8s secured two home victories on Sunday. With an icy cold wind, the team won 4-2 against Ivybridge, with Oke tries scored by Gregory Daniels (2) and Leon Horn (2). In the second match against Bude, Oke won 4-3, with two tries from Gregory Daniels and and one each scored by Leon Horn and Matthew Haygarth. In the following two ?friendly? games Okehampton lost 4-2 to Ivybridge and 3-2 to Bude. Okehampton U7s 6 tries Ivybridge U7s 7 tries THE match against Ivybridge was close with both teams playing some excellent rugby. A great effort in the first half resulted in four tries each. Try scorers were Daniel Turney, Will Risdon, Kai Middleton and Imogen Ogbourne. The second half was just as close. Imogen Ogbourne proved too hot to handle as she out-paced the chasing Ivybridge defence, grounding the ball to score an exceptional try. Daniel Turney completed Oke?s scoring. Okehampton U7s 6 Bude U7s 2 THE match against Bude U7s boasted enthusiastic Okehampton players. Kai Middleton, Josh Burgoyne and Cole Pengelly scored fantastic similar tries. All three ran the length of the pitch, with handy footwork and agility managed to weave their way through the Bude players to score. Oke worked well as a team and by keeping their line and tagging Bude players, the visiting side were only able to score two tries. Good ball retention and accurate passing resulted in tries four and five by Josh Burgoyne and Tom Michie respectively. Quick thinking Daniel Turney picked up the loose ball, turned for space and grounded the try to seal a well deserved win for Oke.
