I thought volunteers made no charge

I ALWAYS thought a volunteer was one who offered his or her services without pay; after all, our excellent Sticklepath and Okehampton Conservation Group do just that.

But now we learn that the Tavistock Conservation Volunteers who carry out hedge steeping, stone-walling and footpath clearing, charge £80 a day (Okehampton Times March 9).
