Clearview Cleaning . . .2
Mary Tavy . . . . . . . . . . 4
WITH several regulars missing Mary Tavy journeyed to Plymouth for this Devon Intermediate Cup tie.
As predicted the home team were strong in the tackle and did not disappoint Tavy who expected a rough ride from a more than capable outfit.
The Tavy nerves however were soon settled as James Philpotts roared through the centre to lift his shot and Tavy into the lead in the opening minute of the match.
Ben Stephens doubled that tally and it looked like the Plymouth side were going to be polished off early .
The start of the second half saw Clearview up their game and with the wind to their backs set up several early chances before finally sweeping the ball into the Tavy net.
Tavy hit back almost immediately but were denied a goal by the off side rule, but did eventually restore their two goal lead when Stephens ghosted through to make it 3-1.
Clearview did pull another back with a good header from a corner and Tavy were momentarily forced to soak up some Plymouth pressure before Ian Hunter stretching at the far post sealed the game with a left footed shot.
