The garden gates were open to the public at The Chantry, Marshall Close, The Sheiling and Little Meadow, both of Chollacott Lane, on the Sunday afternoons of July 31 and August 7.

More than 370 visitors enjoyed the gardens, teas and plants for sale which allowed £2,000 to be raised for the National Garden Schemes charities, which include Macmillan Cancer Support, Marie Curie Cancer Care and Help the Hospices.

Despite rain on the second occasion, visitor numbers held up well, but without the support of many local and family volunteers the event would not have been such a success.

On both occasions many compliments were made about each of these local gardens and how different each was, giving inspiration to the visitors.
