A SHARP-SHOOTING member of Okehampton Smallbore Club hit the bullseye recently when she regained her national title in the British Blind Airgun Shooting Championships.
Carole Brown, 43, shot a stunning score of 598 out of a possible 600 to take the title ? an honour she first won two years ago.
She was runner-up in the championships last year, but her near-perfect score managed to clinch the competition this month, two points ahead of her nearest rival.
Carole said: ?I?ve had a good season and I was capable of winning and getting a good score ? all I had to do was concentrate and keep up with what I practised in training.?
Carole said it was a nail-biting finish with the nearest competitor being just two points from her own score, but she was delighted with the final result.
Carole, who lives in Tiverton, started her shooting career with Okehampton and still attends the club regularly.
She also shoots for the Royal National College for the Blind in Hereford.
In addition to championship honours, Carole is also well ahead in the national postal league, where she has so far shot five perfect scores of 100 in five rounds, notching up four wins and a draw from the five matches at the halfway stage.
With further ace cards of 100 in the ninth and tenth rounds she reckoned she should clinch the league when the results are published.
Her next ambition is to retain the Dutch Open title when she competes in the European Championships in Holland in May.
