THE new Lamerton Sports and Community Centre continues to go from strength to strength with an upcoming programme of events. The help with this, fundraising for the centre has continued in the shape of harvest suppers and golf tournaments. The cider and pasty supper, held by permission of Mr and Mrs A Pope at Pittescombe, Lamerton, raised £1,620. David Kivell was auctioneer with lots that included produce and special items donated by local businesses and individuals. Gerald Cramp organised a golf tournament at Launceston Golf Club, raising £471 ? 34 golfers took part with a dinner for 65 in the evening. Future events at the new centre include table tennis on Saturday November 17, a Christmas Fayre on Saturday November 24 and the Tavistock Musical Theatre Christmas production at 7.30pm on Tuesday December 11 ? please note date change. Bonfire night celebrations will be held, with the kind permission of Mr and Mrs B Grant, at Willestrew Park on Saturday November 3. This is a shared event with St Peter?s Church, Lamerton.
