Tamar Valley hero Darren Tait and his volunteers, who have returned from a mercy mission taking aid to Ukrainian refugees, will be given a special presentation by Callington Town Council on Wednesday evening (March 16) to say thank you.... and everyone is invited.

Darren of Darren’s Cars taxi firm, who lives in St Ann’s Chapel was compelled to help after seeing the traumatic scenes on television of Ukrainians fleeing the Russian Invasion.

Darren took a convoy of nine vehicles to Poland where 1.5-million people are taking refuge.

Callington Portreeve Cllr Mike Tagg and fellow councillors will acknowledge the great work of Darren and his team of 13 volunteers at Callington Pannier Market at 6.30pm to 7.30pm on Wednesday evening.

People are being asked to bring along banners, blow horns and generally make a big fuss to show the strength of feeling for what the team have done.

Please park outside of the pannier market so as many people as possible can attend
