THE Oxfam charity shop in Tavistock is in urgent need of more volunteers.
Manageress Alison Robertson said people were needed to help out in the front of the shop on the till, especially on Tuesday afternoons and Saturday mornings.
No experience is necessary, although Alison said previous shop experience would be quite helpful. Volunteers preferably should be able to help on a regular rather than an occasional basis.
Assistants should also be happy handling money, be approachable and friendly in order to greet customers, and physically fairly able, as the shifts involve standing on your feet for three-and-a-half hours.
Notices being given out to customers requesting help point out that four hours spent volunteering in an Oxfam shop will pay for a year's schooling for an Afghan refugee child in Pakistan.
