A NEW telephone helpline providing a listening service for men and women who have suffered sexual abuse goes live in Devon next week.
The Devon-wide Sexual Abuse Line will be operational from May 28 and will be open on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings between 7pm and 10pm.
Calls are answered by fully trained volunteers who receive on-going support and supervision.
The helpline workers listen, believe what callers say about their experiences and provide information about other agencies who may be able to help.
Anyone over the age of 16 who has suffered sexual abuse, whether recently or in the past, can talk anonymously to the helpline volunteers, who can also provide information for partners, families and friends.
