A DEVON horse charity is appealing for people to help ensure ponies go to good homes. South West Equine Protection (SWEP) is looking for voluntary loan pony inspectors in various parts of Devon, with experience in looking after and caring for ponies or horses. SWEP is a voluntary society specialising in the rescue and rehabilitation of moorland ponies. Once an animal is fit and well, the society halter-breaks the pony then rehomes it through its loan scheme. The responsibilities of a loan pony inspector involves carrying out home checks for suitability of new applicants and twice yearly checks of all loan ponies in the area to ensure their care and well-being are up to standard. Anyone who is interested in helping is asked to apply to Mrs Maureen Rolls on 01822 890668. SWEP, which is based in Princetown, was formed a decade ago to rescue and provide new homes for injured and neglected ponies.
