Covid-19 vaccinations for over 85s in Gunnislake, Calstock and Callington begin today.

The vaccination programme for East Cornwall resident will take place at the Millennium Centre in Pensilva.

Cornwall Councillor for Gunnislake and Calstock Dorothy Kirk told the Times earlier this week she was concerned that vaccinations had started in West Cornwall but not in the East of the county and had been making enquiries.

She said on Tuesday: ‘I have had it confirmed to me by Tamar Valley Health that vaccinations will start this week for our East Cornwall residents. This is overdue but very welcome.

‘I had hoped the vaccinations would be done at Callington Health Centre because it is easier to get to and it’s not a straightforward bus route to Pensilva but the good news is the vaccination programme is to start and it will save lives.’

The news was also confirmed to the Times by the NHS Kernow CCG.
