Tavistock Town Council’s consultation on public toilets in the town is now open to the public.

West Devon Borough Council has announced its intentions to close several sets of public toilets to save more than £250,000 over three years.

Toilets at Bedford Bridge on the A386 near Horrabridge, in Princetown and in Market Street in Okehampton will be closed on March 31, subject to final approval from West Devon Borough Council at its meeting at Kilworthy Park on Tuesday, February 12 at 4pm.

The borough council has offered Tavistock Town Council the chance to take over the running of the public toilets at the Guildhall Car Park, Bedford Car Park and the bus station, which cost approximately £100,000 per year to deliver, otherwise they will close.

The town council has launched an online survey to seek the views of residents to help inform its consideration as to how it should proceed with the offer to take on the future operation of the toilets, with the future cost being met by the town council.

If you would like to participate in the survey, visit www.tavistock.gov.uk/news/public-toilets-tavistock-local-survey and follow the link to the survey page.

All responses must be completed by February 28.
