MEMORABILIA relating to Okehampton Army Camp from the second world war onwards is still being sought for an exhibition at the Museum of Dartmoor Life.

The museum has been appealing for photographs, stories and information for some time but has received little response.

Curator Maurie Webber said she had just been sent some photographs but those were the first.

'There must be more people who have memories or stories of the camp,' she said.

The museum staff have gone global with their appeal and have contacted through the internet regiments in America who were based at Okehampton Camp during the war, but nothing has materialised.

A lack of information about the camp during this time prompted the exhibition but the museum is still hoping items will come in.

'We still plan to hold an exhibition but we don't know in exactly what form yet,' said Mrs Webber.

If anyone has anything that could be of interest to the museum for the exhibition at Easter they should call 01837 52295.
