Sampford Peverall 3 Okehampton Argyle Res 3 UNBEATEN in their last four away games Argyle travelled to Sampford full of confidence and right from the start looked like the side more capable of winning. The first goal went Okehampton?s way, when Chappell was put through and lobbed the host?s goalkeeper from ten yards out. Sampford were level soon after, when Argyle?s defence were unable to get to grips with their impressive centre forward. His neat finish left Leyman with no chance in Okehampton?s goal. Ben Harris scored Argyle?s second skipping past the last defender to slot the ball home. With some good defending by Letchford and Ditchburn and fine goalkeeping from Leyman Argyle looked like holding on to their lead until the break, but this was not going to be the case. A ball from the right fell nicely in the box and was dispatched into the to corner of the net, giving Peverall an equaliser. The second half saw Sampford lose their centre forward, after he was clearly seen to have head butted Ansty. Against ten men Okehampton applied wave upon wave of attacks and were rewarded when good work by Harris enabled his cross to be met by Chappell, and his quality finish gave Argyle their deserved lead. Once again Sampford bounced back and on a rare attack Yip was adjudged to have fouled an opponent in the box. The penalty was scored and the game was all square again at 3-3. With time running out Chappell received a cross 25 yards out and placed the ball into the net. In all of the celebrations no one noticed the linesman?s flag raised apart from the referee. So Chappell?s first hat-trick for Argyle was ruled out for being off-side. This was a bitter blow after such a good display by Okehampton. Next match: Okehampton Cup, v Okehampton 1st XI, Sunday.
