COMMERCIAL Street in Gunnislake will be transformed into a hive of activity on June 12 in celebration of the Queen’s 90th birthday.

From noon onwards local families are invited to a good old fashioned street party to celebrate the occasion.

The Gunnislake Community Matters group is helping Gill Pengally from the Buccaneer Inn and the local scouts to set up trestle tables down the centre of street. Colourful bunting and flags will fly from the buildings and all are invited to wear red, white and blue.

Chairman of Gunnislake Community Matters Ross Hanley said: ‘Children and 90-year-olds are especially welcome as happy memories of village life are created or revived. Bring your own picnic and share some too. Cakes and drinks will be provided. Community singing, the dulcet tones of our town crier Hilary Fairhurst and loads of fun guaranteed.’
