A UNIQUE opportunity is being offered to all the growers of fresh produce in Okehampton and the surrounding area. Growers with a glut of fresh seasonal produce, be it tonnes of tomatoes, plenty of peas or a cascade of carrots, are being sought by the Pickled Walnut in Okehampton. The restaurant is offering a special scheme is for growers to trade in any excess produce they may have for 'food stamps.' When enough stamps have been collected they can then be redeemed for a meal at the restaurant. There will also be the added bonus of seeing home grown produce being served from a professional kitchen to feed the hearty appetites in Okehampton. Jo Henderson, owner of the restaurant, said: 'I'm aware of how much wonderful produce is grown in Okehampton and I would be delighted to be able to use any surplus in the restaurant.' Anyone interested in the scheme can contact Jo at the Pickled Walnut by dropping into the restaurant, calling 01837 54242 or through the e-mail address [email protected]">[email protected]
