CHAGFORD Primary School took part in its first ever Community Volunteering day with pupils and teachers working at several sites around the town.

Wildlife TV presenter Nick Baker worked alongside children as they helped tidy Chagford's churchyard, maintain allotments, weed a memorial garden, and work on community projects at the school itself.

The event saw almost 100 children, aged between 4 and 11, doing practical work to benefit their community.

The event was organised by Early Years teacher Lisa Rowe, as part of the school's contribution to the national Make A Difference Day, which aims to encourage volunteering.

Students were assisted by members of the Chagford Conservation Group.
