Tavistock 26 Wellington 10 TAVISTOCK achieved victory with a show of grit and determination that saw them come from behind in the final quarter to secure the win. In terms of scores the first half ended even at ten points each but Wellington shaded possession and used the strong wind to good effect to also dominate territory. With Wellington in control of the ball the Tavistock defence had to be alert and Paul Greenhill, returning to the starting line up for the first time this season was superb around the fringes of the scrum cutting down Wellington?s attacking runners. Whilst out wide both wingers, Mike Lyddon and Lawrence Evans put in try saving tackles and Duncan Law and Matt Trevithick secured the midfield. Tavistock opened the scoring mid way through the half with a penalty goal from Josh Sutton. Wellington them struck back to take the lead. Tavistock then worked their way back into the Wellington half with some brilliant running from Lawrence Evans and levelled the score with a try from flanker Jude Rotton , who crossed close to the posts after some clever interplay between forwards and backs. Josh Sutton converting. In the second half the Tavistock defence was again superb and Wellington gave away a number of penalties, two of which Josh Sutton converted to take Tavistock into the lead. A long range drop goal from Sutton put Tavistock two scores in front and this allowed them to play far more fluid rugby. Tavistock sealed the game when, whilst the front five forwards were otherwise engaged Lee Greatrex finished off a four man handling move to score a try which Sutton converted. This weekend Tavistock travel to Falmouth in the Cornwall and Devon League. Kick off 3pm.
