Tavistock 0
Wellington 38
TAVISTOCK's season seemed to go from bad to worse at Sandy Park on Saturday, when in addition to losing to high flying Wellington they also lost club skipper Jake Phillips early in the second half with a suspected broken leg. This injury is another in a long line of injuries this season that has seen a number of first fifteen players laid low.
As in recent weeks Tavy competed well in the forwards and in the second half took the game to Wellington for long periods, but it is in the backs where a lack of cohesion and poor decision making is hampering attacking ambition.
Tavy kept the game scoreless for the first twenty minutes until Mark Nicholls grabbed the first score.
Tavy came back at Wellington and almost created a score of their own only for the final pass to debutant wing Will Glover not to go to hand.
Wellington then extended their lead after a period of protraction they worked Robin Trott over for a try. Nicholls converted and he also converted the third of the half scored by Joe Hawkins.
Wellington however absorbed the Tavy pressure and scored three further tries via Lloyd Willcocks, Mark Nicholls and finally Conrad Breeze. Nicholls converted two of the scores.
This Saturday Tavistock travel to Torquay for what will be the first fixture between the two sides at first fifteen level as the once illustrious Tic's were last season relegated to the Western Counties League.
Kick-off 3pm.
