ALMOST £700 was raised at a dinner dance last Friday organised by the Tavistock Friends of the Children's Hospice South West.

The event was staged at Tavistock Town Hall and was attended by the mayor Robin Pike and wife Diana.

Thanks were expressed to everyone who supported the event and to the hotels, restaurants and café's who promised meals and more, which were auctioned by well known master chef and co-owner of the Horn of Plenty Peter Gorton — raising £2,575.

All donations mean a great deal to the children who suffer from life-limiting conditions, and their families, who visit Little Bridge House in North Devon and Charlton Farm near Bristol.

The new hospice will be built near St Austell, starting next year.
