EIGHTEEN of the younger members of Tavistock Swimming Club took part in the Devon ASA Junior Sprint Gala at Central Park in Plymouth.
For many of the swimmers it was their first opportunity to compete in an individual gala and they made the most of their opportunity to produce some very good performances and a number of top 10 finishes.
This event consists of 50 metre swims in each of the four strokes —freestyle, breaststroke, backstroke and butterfly. The results are then combined towards the BAGCAT (British Age Group Category) awards.
In the overall BAGCAT awards Beth Thompson finished second in the girls 10 years age group, Luke Stephens finished fifth in the boys 11 years age group and Harry Thompson finished second in the boys 13 years age group.
Taking part were James Anderson, Sophie Anderson, Gemma Arundel, Emily Attfield, Olivia Bates, Sam Bates, Lucy Cooper, Tom Cooper, Jake France, Megan Groom, Emily Handel, Maddie Handel, Chloe Marks, Laura Meredith, Luke Stephens, Sarah Teagure, Beth Thompson and Harry Thompson.
