OKEHAMPTON Rotary Club raised £4,000 through a charity golf day last month.

The money will go towards local clubs, organisations and youth and sport developments.

Thirty teams took part in the days golf, held at Ashbury Golf Club on Wednesday, July 21. The winner of the competition was Four Bellies with a score of 85 points.

Second was Okehampton Rotary B, followed by Waverly Pin Hitters in third and Whales Are Not Fish in fourth.

Okehampton Rotary Club president Andy Ewen praised the standard of play and expressed thanks to everyone who took part and helped the club: My sincere thanks go to Joan and Simon Essex, who very generously donated all the facilities to the club without them we would have had no day.

Thanks must also go to the green-keepers and staff at Ashbury who were so helpful to our teams all day, and to the members of Inner Wheel, who were brilliant and gave us so much help on the day.
