TAVISTOCK Athletic Club paid a big 'thank you' to junior club member Amber Friendship, the Devon County Council and the Youth Opportunities fund.
They all played a key part in enabling the juniors of Tavistock Athletic Club to buy some high tech equipment which will enable the athletes to develop more efficiently. Amber volunteered offering to fill out several pages of the application requesting a grant from the Youth Opportunities fund, and to the clubs delight the application was successful.
Adam Tofield, the club's junior head coach said: 'The finance received has gone towards equipment which will help the juniors develop in a range of ways through high tech equipment and the expertise of the coaches.
l The club are also grateful for the donation from the Tavistock Round Table who bought them a standing triple jump mat.
Adam said: 'The children have been getting to grips with the technique over the last few weeks in preparation for the indoor sports hall competition. The juniors can also train standing long jump on this mat. This is the first time we have been able to measure accurately and perform safely the standing triple jump event.
'The juniors really enjoy the event and are looking forward to competing at the next competition. Thank you again, to everyone concerned with the Round Table.'
