A GRANT for almost £10,000 has been awarded to Buckland Monachorum Parish Council to replace play equipment in the village. In 2013, Cllr Ric Cheadle applied on behalf of the parish council for a grant to replace play equipment in the village play park. Members were delighted to receive the news that £9,800 was to be granted to allow the council to replace the wooden tower slide kit which had come to the end of its life. The new play kit, a colourful combination of different play elements, is aimed at the younger children. Supplied by local company Green Scheme Ltd, the new play kit is made from durable and low maintenance recycled materials. A local resident offered to re-home part of the old kit that was still in good condition — a great bit of recycling. Volunteers and councillors also helped put down the rubber matting safety surface after the new kit was installed, helping keep the costs down. The 'Awards For All' scheme is aimed at small projects which will benefit local communities.
