THE Okehampton branch of St John Ambulance is celebrating a boost, thanks to the town's branch of Waitrose.
Cadet leader of Okehampton St John Ambulance Kevin Cozens, and sergeant of the cadets Will Kivell, received a cheque for £454 from the checkout manager at Waitrose Alexa Lewis, as part of the store's Community Matters scheme.
Miss Lewis also handed over a cheque for £100 donated by the Lions Club of Okehampton. Will, who has been a member of St John Ambulance for five years, has been the chief fundraiser for a complete set of new uniforms for the cadets.
With the donations from Waitrose and the Lions Club the branch will have reached the target of £1,500 which will enable it to start purchasing next week.
