A SCHOOL choir from east London will travel to Okehampton this month, to raise funds for people in Tanzania without access to clean water.
The Dunamis Gospel choir will come to Fairplace Church on August 31 to give an evening's entertainment to raise money for Devon Aid Korogwe.
The money raised at the event will be used to give families living in rural villages of the Korogwe region in Tanzania access to clean drinking water instead of dirty water taken from rivers and holes.
The choir was formed after a school choir in east London became so popular it proved too difficult to perform away from the school.
A smaller group of young people was assembled by Pastor Daniel Erickson-Hull, made up of children whose parents could help with transport and other necessary support.
The choir was formed in January 2012, with young peple from eleven years old to their mid 20s taking part.
The choir offers a mix of nationalities, representing the multi-culturalism of London. In the past they have toured including performances in Bristol.
All funds raised for DAK go straight to their projects, and visits to assess and inspect the projects are made annually by trustees.
The charity, based in Bratton Clovelly, has installed 56 wells, three bore holes, 14 pipelines into villages and a rain water harvesting scheme at the local town dispensary in the district of Korogwe, Tanzania.
The concert starts at 7pm, with entry costing £5 to include tea and coffee. Entry for children under eleven costs £2.50.
Tickets are available in advance by calling 01837 871310 or 01837 54052.
